Carolyn Lee Vehslage
At Lafayette College in Easton, PA ('83) Carolyn Lee Vehslage earned a minor in Fine Arts along with her degrees in Computer Science and Economics and Business. Before pursuing her art career full time, she was a Computer Network Engineer for 15 years, first in New York and later in Philadelphia.
Although she began sewing at age of four, it wasn't until 1998 that she 'discovered' her passion for art quilts. She has recently begun to include her knowledge of technology with the "Fried Circuits", "System Overload", "Motherboard Meltdown" and "Keyboard Lockup" series.
Carolyn Lee has artwork touring South America with the ARA Gallery Permanent Collection; the US with "AMERICA: From the Heart" exhibition; and New Zealand, Mexico, and France with the "Bakers Dozen" collection. She is the curator of "September 11th viewed through the Quilt" exhibition that is touring Central America. Her artwork hangs in numerous private and museum collections.
In 2000 Carolyn Lee was asked to create a marketing position on the AQATS volunteer committee. She promoted both the exhibition and its artists by writing press releases and getting articles published in quilt, fiber, and fine art magazines.
Late 2004, Carolyn stepped down from her position with AQatS to pursue an opportunity that would take her around the world and make her secret quilting wish come true. She was the Quilt Instructor on Crystal Serenity 101-day world cruise from January 15-April 27, 2005. She's going back for the Crystal Serenity 106-day world cruise from January 18-May 5, 2006!
BON VOYAGE, CAROLYN!
Thank you for your work on behalf of ArtQuilts at the Sedgwick. We wish you well.
